I'm finally back into listening to music habitually, after a long stretch where I simply just forgot how to engage with it. I wasn't keeping up with pop culture and stuck in a rut, unable to connect with songs I'd encounter in the wold. In 2024, it was Ariana Grande's Eternal Sunshine album and Charli XCX's Brat in that pulled me back into the pop culture space and got me excited about music again. When I was in middle school I'd spend hours alone every morning before school watching music videos, cycling through MTV, MTV2, and VH1 hoping to catch my favorites (and skip the sleepers. I'm trying to see Lady Gaga not fucking Lifehouse PLEASE).
Mostly I'm into pop, dance, and r&b. I love women, I love divas, I love icons. My favorite artists include Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, Mariah Carey, and Amy Winehouse.
Pop music is in a really exciting place right now and I feel a lot like my middle school self getting to engage with it. I'm prone to listen to the same thing over and over, so I'm happy to feel inclined to branch out in my own small ways. Let me know if you listen to the same stuff or if you have any recommendations for me on my profile!
